What is Podiatry?

Podiatrists are health professionals who diagnose and treat conditions that affect the feet and ankles.

The human foot is a complex structure made up of bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and soft tissues. It is designed to bear the weight of the body and to provide mobility.

There are many causes for foot disorders, such as injury, arthritis, diabetes and deformities. These conditions can be treated by podiatrists using various methods including manual manipulation, exercise, stretching, shockwave therapy, and orthotics (custom made arch supports).

Podiatrists also play an important role in the prevention of foot disorders. They can advise on footwear, exercise, and other steps to keep your feet healthy.
