Podiatry Watsonia

Take steps to look after the foundations of your body.

Access Podiatry Treatment

Our feet often do so much for us, but sometimes it can be easy to take them for granted. They deserve to be looked after! This can be through both treatment and prevention. Our Watsonia podiatrists at your local podiatry clinic are dedicated to providing comprehensive, high-quality treatment with the aim of helping you feel more comfortable with better functionality and achieve optimal health.

Regular foot care can be important in maintaining and improving overall health and well-being. This is because our feet and lower limbs bear our weight, maintain our balance and stability, and contribute to our posture and mobility. If the region is facing challenges, it may affect other areas of your body and decrease your comfort, safety, and functionality.

If you are experiencing discomfort with your feet or lower limbs or wish to prevent problems from arising, our qualified and experienced podiatrists are here to support you with a thorough assessment and personalised clinical treatment plan.

What Does a Podiatrist Do?

Podiatrists are health professionals who diagnose and treat conditions that affect the feet and lower limbs. We also play an important role in the prevention of foot disorders. Podiatrists can provide education too, and guidance about factors such as the right shoes and exercise to help keep your feet healthy. Podiatry care aims to maintain or improve the health and comfort of this region and may target factors such as foot discomfort, mobility, circulation, and skin quality.

The human foot is made up of many bones and joints and various soft tissue structures. It is designed to carry the weight of the body and to allow mobility. A variety of conditions and injuries can lead to foot problems. These include issues such as diabetes, arthritis, deformities, sports accidents, infections, and congenital conditions. Our fully qualified podiatrists treat these conditions with a variety of methods and techniques, including diabetic foot care, exercise and stretching, manual manipulation, skin care, shockwave therapy, and acupuncture.

The Benefits of Podiatry

Podiatry can help relieve pain, improve mobility, and prevent future injury and conditions. In certain situations, podiatry care may improve the appearance of your feet, helping to enhance your self-esteem. It may be possible to avoid surgery in some cases thanks to podiatry treatment. Our podiatrists near Watsonia treat a variety of patients, including children and older adults. We provide a comprehensive assessment and develop a customised treatment plan for each patient with practical solutions.

Depending on your situation, receiving podiatry care may have various benefits. Some of these can include:

Reduced Pain

We can work towards alleviating discomfort and getting you back to walking pain free by addressing the underlying cause, such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, and heel spurs.

Improved Mobility

Podiatry assessment and managing biomechanical problems, pain, or medical conditions may positively impact overall mobility. Issues ranging from an infected toenail to broken bones or torn soft tissues can affect functionality, so intervention may make a significant difference to your ability to engage in daily activities.

Better Posture And Balance

Your feet and lower limbs can significantly affect your body alignment. Managing and preventing issues can not only help the health and comfort of these areas but may also assist your whole musculoskeletal structure. Having appropriate alignment can also affect your balance and stability, which may reduce your falls and injury risk.

Management of Health Conditions

There are several medical conditions that may affect your feet and lower limbs. This can include issues such as arthritis. Podiatry care may be crucial when it comes to managing and preventing symptoms and complications associated with these chronic conditions.

Diabetic Care And Support

Foot care might not seem like it should be connected to diabetes management, but it is often crucial for preventing and managing complications associated with diabetes, such as ulcers.

Suitable Footwear and Orthotics

Having the right footwear can often make a huge difference to your foot health. Shoes that lack support and cushioning or are too tight or loose may cause significant issues, such as flat arches, ankle sprains, and bunions. Orthotic devices may also prove useful in many cases. These aim to correct imbalances, gait disturbances, provide support, and prevent injuries and fatigue. We can customise orthotics to suit your unique needs and foot shape.

Injury Prevention

We can use methods such as gait analysis, manual therapy, exercise prescription, footwear recommendations, and education to help you prevent injuries related to daily activities and sporting endeavours.

Enhanced Sports Performance And Lifestyle

Podiatry care is not always about treatment or prevention. Podiatrists can help you reach your athletic and activity goals by optimising foot function, providing guidance regarding specific movements, exercises, and stretches, and assisting with the prevention of sports-related injuries.

Podiatry care not only affects your feet and lower limbs butmay make a positive impact on your whole body and well-being.
