Emma Costa is a Physiotherapist who graduated from Monash University in 2021, completing a Bachelor of Science and Physiotherapy (Honours). She gained practical experience working at St Vincent’s Hospital and Alfred Health, where she provided acute and rehabilitative care for patients with musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, and neurological conditions. Emma also sharpened her manual therapy, soft tissue mobilisation, and exercise prescription skills during her time in private practice. Her eagerness to learn drives her to continually enhance her abilities as a physiotherapist.
Throughout her life, playing netball, gymnastics, and skiing exposed her to multiple injuries, and as a frequent recipient of physiotherapy treatment, she can empathise with her patients. Emma’s passion for helping people, combined with her knowledge of the human body, led her to pursue physiotherapy. Emma’s area of interest covers a broad range of conditions and injuries, including back and neck pain and specific sporting injuries. She has completed professional development courses in women’s health, pain physiotherapy, sport physiotherapy, Mulligan spinal technique, and attended the Sports Medicine Australia International Sport Conference.
In her spare time, Emma enjoys engaging in regular exercise, horse riding, watching AFL (Carlton supporter), socializing with friends and family, and walking her two dogs, Duke and Jax.
