Is shockwave therapy painful?

The name may make you think the treatment could be painful, however, this is not the case. The procedure itself does not hurt, largely due to the non-invasive nature of the therapy. As it works to promote the healing process, you may experience mild tenderness or heaviness in the area while the shockwave is being applied. This generally eases by the end of the therapy. The sensation of the therapy is often described as a deep, rhythmic vibration.

How many sessions will I require?

What Will my Consultation Cost?

WorkCover Costs

With WorkCover and third-party insurers, there is usually an initial threshold to be met (approximately $750–$830).

Initially, you will need to cover treatment costs and medical expenses yourself or seek reimbursement from your employer.

Please keep all receipts for later reimbursement. Once the threshold is reached, we may bill your insurer directly, so you do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses, except for late cancellation and no-show fees.

TAC Expenses

With TAC, you may begin treatment right after your traffic accident.

TAC may cover specific treatments and services within the first 90 days after your accident without needing prior approval.

If your health professional intends to continue treatment beyond this 90-day period, a treatment plan must be submitted to TAC.

There may be no out-of-pocket costs for your TAC appointments. However, it is recommended that you keep receipts for reimbursement.
